Seit über 35 Jahren arbeite ich täglich an Pferdehufen.
Gemeinsam mit meinem Team habe ich in dieser Zeit
mehr als 1.000.000 Hufe bearbeitet und dabei viele
unterschiedliche Formen von tiefen Strahlfurchen,
Strahlrissen, Hohlräumen und
Fäulnisbefall kennengelernt.
Hornpads habe ich entwickelt, um genau solche
schwer zugänglichen Problemstellen zuverlässig zu
versorgen.
Seit vielen Jahren setze ich sie im Rahmen meiner
täglichen Hufpflege ein, wenn eine oberflächliche Pflege
allein nicht ausreicht.

Care product for targeted care of deep frog areas in horses
HOOFGOLD Hornpads were developed by hoof expert Olaf Optenplatz based on his more than 35 years of hoof-care experience. Together with his team, he has worked on more than 1,000,000 hooves. In his daily hoof-care practice, he uses Hornpads particularly where deep frog grooves, frog cracks, cavities, rotten frog, soft horn or damaged hoof horn make targeted care difficult.
The Hornpads are inserted directly into frog grooves, cracks or cavities, enabling targeted care even in hard-to-reach areas of the hoof.
Especially in cases of deep thrush, superficial care measures are often insufficient based on experience from hoof-care practice. When decay, foul odor, soft horn or deep cracks have developed in the frog area, care should be applied as much as possible directly to the affected area. HOOFGOLD Hornpads were developed precisely for this application and have been used by Olaf Optenplatz for many years as part of his daily hoof care.
HOOFGOLD Hornpads are particularly suitable for care in cases of:
- thrush in horses
- deep thrush
- deep frog cracks
- holes in the hoof or frog area
- rotten frog
- foul odor in the hoof
- soft or damaged horn
- horn rot and decay in the frog area
- wetness, mud and damp stable conditions
- frog grooves, cracks and cavities in the horse's hoof
Targeted care of deeply located problem areas
The impregnated Hornpads are inserted directly into cracks, holes or the frog groove. This allows care to be applied directly to the affected area. Based on Olaf Optenplatz's experience, the Hornpads support hoof hygiene, the care of damaged horn areas and natural horn function as part of regular hoof care.
D-Seal / Anti-Doping Tested
HOOFGOLD Hornpads bear the recognized D-Seal. This means that the product has been tested for substances relevant to doping regulations and is ADMR-compliant. The Hornpads are therefore also suitable for horses competing in equestrian sports.

Application
- Application
- Simply press the pad into the affected area - no elaborate securing required.
- Replace the Hornpad every 3 days for optimal results.
- The pad dissolves on its own. Simple, efficient and gentle on the horse - for healthy and strong hooves! - Recommendation before use:
Before inserting the Hornpads, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the hoof, sole and frog with the HOOFGOLD HCE hoof cleaner.
Combined treatment with HCE can improve hoof hygiene and optimally prepare for the application of Hornpads.
