Hufkur
Most hoof-care products care for the hoof only from the outside. Hufkur supports hoof health from within through a balanced supply of nutrients for the metabolism and hoof horn — for natural nourishment of the hoof. Proven in professional hoof care, drawing on over 35 years of practical experience.
* Note on practical experience
Visible change
Documented hoof changes after targeted support from within.
White line disease, brittle hooves and hoof sensitivity
Support was provided with 3 courses of Hufkur over 4 months. The underlying issues were a nutrient deficiency and difficulties with detoxification, which became visible in the hoof.
During demanding periods such as pregnancy, stress, the competition season, poor feed or excess acidity, the body can become overloaded. The liver, kidneys and lymphatic system in particular often face increased detoxification demands. This can be reflected in the hoof, much as people may develop thinning hair, sensitive skin or brittle nails.
In horses, such internal imbalances often appear as poor horn quality, sensitive hooves, white line disease or brittle hoof horn. In these cases, the body needs targeted nutrients and supporting supplementation to restore an adequate supply. Hufkur with MSM, vitamins and selected minerals supports this process from within.
Addresses the underlying cause in the metabolism
So that nutrients can once again reach the hoof and durable hoof horn can build up from the inside.
Nourishes hooves, skin, hair & tendons at the same time
The balanced nutrient formula supports the entire organism - not just the hoof.
Promotes strong, resilient hoof horn
Supports the formation of new hoof horn in brittle, cracked, and sensitive hooves.
Ideal during coat changes & periods of increased exertion
Helps the body precisely when many nutrients are needed .
Safe for your horse, even in competition
ADMR-compliant, tested and approved – ideal for competition horses.

My experience with Hufkur
For over 35 years I have worked on horses’ hooves every day. Together with
my team I have
worked on more than 1,000,000 hooves and repeatedly found that many hoof problems arise not only externally, but are also linked to
internal nutrient supplyin the body.
HOOFGOLD Hufkur grew out of this practical experience, and
I have used it for many years as a supporting part of my
daily hoof-care workin practice.
Description
The nutrient complex for hooves, tendons, skin & coat
HOOFGOLD Hufkur is a specially developed nutrient complex for horses and supports the normal nutritional supply of hooves, tendons, skin and coat. Hufkur has been used as a complementary measure in Olaf Optenplatz’s daily hoof-care practice for many years and is particularly suitable for supportive nutritional care in cases of laminitis, brittle hooves, cracked hooves, hoof wall cracks, White Line Disease, thrush cancer, slowed hoof growth and weakened hoof quality.
Many hoof problems affect more than just external hoof care and are often also connected with the horse’s overall nutrient supply. A balanced supply of important nutrients can contribute to maintaining normal hooves. HOOFGOLD Hufkur provides a balanced nutrient formula for hoof horn, tendons, skin and coat.
The difference: support from within
Most hoof-care products are applied externally. HOOFGOLD Hufkur complements daily hoof care with a balanced supply of nutrients from within.
The nutrients it contains help support normal horn quality and natural hoof growth. For this reason, Hufkur is often used as a valuable supplement to external hoof care.
HOOFGOLD Hufkur is used as a complementary measure in practice for
- laminitis
- brittle hooves
- cracked hooves and hoof cracks
- hoof wall cracks
- White Line Disease
- thrush cancer
- thrush as supportive care from within
- slowed hoof growth
- weakened hoof quality
- sensitive hooves
- tendon problems
- skin and coat problems
The stated areas of application are based on practical experience from more than 35 years of hoof trimming and more than 1 million hooves treated. They do not constitute a guarantee of treatment success or a promise of healing.
Support from within
HOOFGOLD Hufkur complements daily hoof care with a balanced supply of nutrients. It is used particularly for horses whose hoof care should be meaningfully supplemented by nutritional support.
Proven in hoof-care practice
HOOFGOLD Hufkur has been used by Olaf Optenplatz for many years as part of his daily hoof-care practice. The combination of more than 35 years of professional experience and more than 1 million hoof treatments forms the basis of the usage recommendations.
D-Seal / Anti-Doping tested
HOOFGOLD Hufkur bears the recognized D-Seal. This means that the product has been tested for doping-relevant ingredients and complies with ADMR regulations. Hufkur is therefore also suitable for horses competing in equestrian sports.
Ingredients

Hoof care for Cushing's (PPID)
We are repeatedly asked whether the Hoofgold Hufkur can also be fed to horses with Cushing (PPID).
Based on our current knowledge, we are not aware of any case in which Hoofgold Hufkur has had a negative effect on a horse with Cushing.
Hoofgold Hufkur is a complementary feed to support hoof quality and does not replace a veterinary diagnosis or medical treatment.
Carbohydrate and starch content
In horses with Cushing or an insulin metabolism disorder, attention should generally be paid to a controlled intake of carbohydrates and starch.
According to the manufacturer information available to us:
- The starch content is significantly reduced.
- The included wheat bran consists predominantly of non-starch carbohydrates such as cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin and therefore contains comparatively little starch.
- The molasses content is only approx. 1%. When feeding 100 g of Hufkur per day, this corresponds to an intake of approximately 1 g of molasses.
These quantities are generally considered not critical by the manufacturer for a horse with Cushing that is stably regulated. Nevertheless, every horse must be considered individually.
Our recommendation
Since every horse with Cushing has a different disease progression and metabolic status, we generally recommend consulting the attending veterinarian if there are any uncertainties.
Feel free to provide your veterinarian with the above information on the carbohydrate, starch and molasses content of Hoofgold Hufkur. Based on the individual medical history and current blood values, they can assess whether feeding it is suitable in the specific case.
Conclusion:
Based on our experience to date, no case is known in which Hoofgold Hufkur has caused negative effects in a horse with Cushing. As a complementary feed, it can be used to support hoof health. However, in the case of existing medical conditions or uncertainties, feeding should always be discussed with the attending veterinarian.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Hoof problems can be unsettling because many things look similar. These questions will quickly give you guidance and help you understand how to get started sensibly.
What does Hoofgold help with?
For typical hoof problems such as thrush, brittle hooves, poor hoof quality, and difficult hoof growth. You will gain clarity, priorities, and sensible next steps.
Do I have to buy products first before I can get help?
No. Start with a brief assessment. Then you can decide which steps make sense and whether products are even necessary.
Why aren’t many tips from the internet enough?
Because similar symptoms can have different causes. If the cause isn't correctly identified, the solution will miss the mark too.
Are your products suitable for sport?
The products are tested by the D Seal and free from doping substances. This gives you peace of mind, even during everyday competition.
What if it's urgent?
If your horse is severely lame, in obvious pain, or you suspect an acute emergency, please seek immediate veterinary assistance on site. An assessment can provide additional guidance but does not replace emergency veterinary care.
Do you also ship abroad?
Yes. Delivery is possible to many countries, including the United Kingdom and Switzerland. The exact shipping costs depend on the destination country and order value.
